This is fun! I love being included in this group of such remarkable women. Each one of these artists is guided by an authentic pursuit of their truth, and good lord, what talent! I mean incredible talent. But also incredible practice, curiosity, and discipline. (I know how hard we all work and how cool to get to shine together!)
Included with me are the amazing Brittany Bendabout, Rachel Rector, May Yang & Ebony Iman Dallas-Ewing.
Want to hear a funny little story? My first job after I moved back to Tulsa via Oneonta/Albany/Rome/Chicago/Boston in 1999 was with TulsaPeople magazine. Can you believe that? I was lucky enough to take over an advertising sales position that the spectacular Rosalie Childs had just vacated. It was an exciting job to my 25 year old self. I loved the people I worked with and the fun people I got to meet with everyday. And, Jim Langdon (Langdon Publishing), is about the kindest, most compassionate person that I’d ever worked for. He was really an incredible boss and leader, and anything he asked you to do on the gig was something he was already doing. You know those kind of people?
Some of my very favorite things...my studio, Carson House and my desk of treasured things.
I eventually left TulsaPeople to start my own real estate path and I think it’s really cool that 25 years later, I’m on the cover of TulsaPeople magazine because I’m an artist. Amazing. I mean I could never have planned this path in a million years, but dang, the path sure is clear in the rear view mirror!
Thank you, Tim Landes for the studio shots/ interview and Michelle Pollard for the amazing cover shot. And a giant thanks to Jim Langdon and TulsaPeople Magazine for investing time and resources to build up women in Tulsa. It matters.
All my love,
APJ
